Application description

Widely used in electrical connectors, switchgear components, busbars, terminals, and grounding rods (pure copper). Also suitable for plumbing fittings, valve stems, gears, fasteners, and decorative hardware (brass). Bronze grades are used for bearings, bushings, springs, and corrosion-resistant marine components. Excellent machinability and conductivity make it ideal for precision-turned parts in automotive, electronics, and industrial machinery.

Production description

Copper or copper alloy billet is continuously cast or extruded into rough shape. For precision, the bar is cold drawn through a series of dies to achieve tight tolerances and bright surface. Intermediate annealing softens the material for further drawing. The bar is then straightened, cut to length, and inspected.

Shipping Packaging

For export, copper rods/bars are bundled with interleaved paper or plastic separators, wrapped with VCI paper and moisture-proof polyethylene, packed on ISPM-15 pallets, secured with steel straps, and fitted with edge protectors. Labels include grade, shape, dimensions, length, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Why Choose Us?

1.Factory Strength:Direct manufacturer with continuous casting, extrusion, cold drawing lines, and annealing furnaces, producing pure copper (T2, TP2, C11000, C12200), brass (H59–H90, C36000), bronze (QSn, QAl, C51900), and copper-nickel rods in round, square, flat, and hexagonal shapes.

2.Quality Assurance:Strict control of chemical composition, electrical conductivity (≥97% IACS for pure copper), mechanical properties (tensile, yield, hardness, elongation), and dimensional accuracy (cold drawn ±0.05mm, turned ±0.02mm); 100% eddy current or ultrasonic testing available; compliant with GB/T 4423, ASTM B16/B124, EN 12163, JIS H3250.

3.Certifications & Reports:Mill test certificates (MTC) with each shipment; third-party inspections (SGS, BV) and test reports (conductivity, tensile, hardness, stress corrosion) available upon request.

4.Customization & Service:Wide material range (pure copper, brass, bronze, copper-nickel), shapes (round 3–120mm, square 4–80mm, flat 3×10–20×150mm, hex 4–60mm), custom lengths (2–6m), tempers (soft, half hard, hard), surface finishes (mill, cold drawn, turned, polished), and fast lead times.

5.Export Packaging:Interleaved paper/plastic separators + VCI paper + moisture-proof polyethylene + ISPM-15 pallets + steel strapping + edge protectors + clear labeling for safe sea freight and corrosion prevention.

FAQ

1. How to store copper rods/bars to prevent surface tarnishing and corrosion?

Store in dry, clean indoor area on wooden pallets or racks, keep original VCI paper and moisture-proof wrapping intact. Avoid contact with acids, ammonia, or rubber materials that may cause staining. For long-term storage, maintain humidity below 60%. Minor surface tarnish can be removed with a mild acid dip or abrasive pad before use.

2. What is the difference between pure copper and brass rods for machining?

Pure copper (T2, C11000) offers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity but is relatively soft and gummy, requiring sharp tools and proper lubrication for machining. Brass (e.g., H62, C36000) contains zinc, providing higher strength, better machinability (especially free-cutting brass with lead), and a gold-like appearance, making it ideal for precision parts, valves, and decorative hardware. Choose copper for conductivity, brass for strength and machinability.

3. Can copper rods be welded or brazed easily?

Yes. Pure copper rods can be TIG or MIG welded using deoxidized filler wire (e.g., ERCu). Brazing with silver-based or phosphorus-copper alloys is also common for copper and brass. For brass, use appropriate flux and low-fuming bronze filler. Avoid overheating to prevent zinc fuming. Pre-cleaning the surface is essential for good joint quality.
