Application

Electrical & Power Industry, Construction Engineering, Transportation, Industrial Manufacturing, Electronics & Home Appliances, etc.

Application description

Widely used for manufacturing electrical conductors (overhead power transmission lines, bare conductors, ACSR core wires), building wire, welding wire (4043, 5356 for MIG/TIG welding of aluminum), wire mesh, fencing, rivets, fasteners, and cold heading products. Also suitable for automotive wiring harnesses, cable armoring, and general industrial fabrication. The high conductivity of EC grades and good ductility of non-electrical grades make it ideal for drawing into fine wires and various forming processes.

Production description

Aluminum ingot is melted, continuously cast into a bar, then hot rolled through a series of stands to the required diameter (7–25mm). The rod is water-cooled, coiled into a compact ring, and optionally drawn or annealed to achieve desired temper. Finished coils are inspected for surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

Shipping Packaging

For export, aluminum wire rod coils are wrapped with VCI paper and moisture-proof polyethylene, secured with steel straps, packed on ISPM-15 wooden pallets or steel skids, and fitted with edge protectors. Labels include grade, diameter, coil weight, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Why Choose Us?

1.Factory Strength:Direct manufacturer with continuous casting and hot rolling lines, producing aluminum wire rod in diameters 7–25mm, grades EC (1350, 6101, 6201) and non-electrical (1050, 1100, 3003, 4043, 5356), ensuring consistent microstructure and drawability.

2.Quality Assurance:Strict control of chemical composition, electrical conductivity (≥61% IACS for EC grades), tensile strength, and surface defects; 100% eddy current testing available; compliant with ASTM B233/B230/B398, EN 1715, GB/T 3954.

3.Certifications & Reports:Mill test certificates (MTC) with each shipment; third-party inspections (SGS, BV) and conductivity/tensile test reports available upon request.

4.Customization & Service:Wide alloy range (EC and non-EC), diameters 7–25mm, custom coil weights (500–2500kg), tempers (soft, 1/4 hard, 1/2 hard), and surface finishes (mill, cleaned, drawn) with fast lead times.

5.Export Packaging:VCI paper + moisture-proof polyethylene + ISPM-15 pallets/steel skids + steel strapping + edge protectors + clear labeling for safe sea freight and rust prevention.

FAQ

1. How to store aluminum wire rod coils to prevent oxidation and surface damage?

Store in dry, clean warehouse on wooden pallets or steel skids, keep original VCI paper and moisture-proof wrapping intact. Avoid contact with concrete, wet ground, or dissimilar metals (copper, steel). For long-term storage, maintain humidity below 60% and keep coils covered. Surface oxidation (white rust) can be removed with mild acid cleaning before drawing.

2. What is the difference between EC grade (1350) and non-electrical grade (1100) aluminum wire rod?

EC grade 1350 offers high electrical conductivity (≥61% IACS), low impurity content, and is designed for electrical conductors (power lines, building wire). Non-electrical grade 1100 has higher purity (99.0% Al), good corrosion resistance, but lower conductivity; it is used for general fabrication, rivets, wire mesh, and decorative applications. Choose EC for electrical, 1100 for non-electrical forming.

3. Can aluminum wire rod be directly used for MIG welding wire production?

Yes. Alloys 4043 (AlSi5) and 5356 (AlMg5) are specifically designed for welding wire. They offer good feedability, stable arc, and low porosity. The rod is drawn to fine diameters (0.8–2.4mm), cleaned, and layer-wound on spools. We supply rod in soft temper, ready for drawing and finishing. For best results, specify “welding wire quality” with surface lubrication.
